Diagrams Of Triangles Of The Holocaust

"Birds banned" by Eduardo Galeano

During the military dictatorship in Uruguay, in a prison called Freedom, prisoners could not draw or receive pictures of pregnant women, couples, butterflies, stars and birds.

Didasko Pérez, a school teacher, tortured and imprisoned for having ideological ideas, was a Sunday visit from his daughter Milay, five years. The daughter brought him a drawing of birds. The guards (the censors) broke it at the entrance of the prison.

next Sunday, Milay brought a drawing of trees. The trees were not banned, and the picture went.

The father praised the work and asked for a few circles of colors that appeared on the tops of the trees, many small circles in the branches:

- Are oranges? What fruits?

She silenced him:

-Ssshhhh.

And secretly he explained:

-Bobo Do not you see are your eyes? The eyes of birds, I brought you in secret.
